Although problematic, Waddle Dee loyally serves King Dedede, who values his subordinates and is strong and cool. Waddle Dee tries hard to obstruct Kirby to help King Dedede achieve his ambitions.

In Japan, Waddle Dee is frequently featured in merchandise alongside Kirby as a representative character of the series, making it very popular and adorable.
