February 3rd is Setsubun! It marks the transition from winter to spring, and there is a legend that during such seasonal changes, people often fall ill or let their guard down, allowing ogres to cause mischief. The Setsubun event is said to be about driving those ogres away using beans, which are believed to ward off evil spirits!

That’s why items related to ogres and beans are spotlighted for Setsubun! The Sumikko Gurashi characters are also getting ready, wearing ogre masks on their heads or skillfully balancing beans on top...... they look so cute and excited for Setsubun! Maybe if you display these plushies, they’ll bring such a perfect Setsubun vibe that they might even ward off bad luck......?
