This is fantastic news! And I'm too excited!!!

The Mermaid (Island) Arc is a long episode included in the latest volume 8, which was posted on social media from March to November 2023! To briefly explain the story: One day, as Chiikawa and Hachiware are relaxing in the plaza, a Usagi (rabbit) suddenly appears with a flyer stuck to its face. When Hachiware checks the flyer, it turns out to be an invitation titled “Invitation to a Special Island”...... That's the story! This special island is inhabited by mysterious creatures...... Mermaids and Sirens......?

The director is the talented individual who worked on the “Uma Musume Pretty Derby” series, and the production is by CygamesPictures (which produced the movie “Umamusume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era”)! The script includes a note that it is under the complete supervision of Nagano-Sensei!

The TV anime version of Chiikawa is currently airing, but it seems the theatrical film will be created by a production team dedicated to the movie version! Staff who worked on the Uma Musume anime movie, which is a hit overseas right now, have gathered, and the scenario is under the complete supervision of the original creator, Nagano-Sensei!
